Purpose Statement

The job of Front Desk/Concession Stand Attendant was established for the purpose/s of greeting Aquatic Center patrons, record keeping, and handling daily business transactions. The front desk attendant will serve as an ambassador for the Aquatic Center with a professional attitude.

 

This job reports to Aquatic Center Director/Supervisor.

 

Essential Functions

  • Assists in building cleanliness, event set-up and clean up, and helps to adhere food handler licenses criteria.
  • Keeps an accurate count of cash in the cash register.
  • Assists in preparation and serving of concession stand goods
  • Greets patrons, answers questions, and manage daily transactions related to the Aquatic Center and its Programs.
  • Copes with and manages large groups during daily, evening, and special event programs.
  • Communicates effectively and courteously with public, in person and by phone.
  • Performs daily operational tasks.
  • Adheres to National and State health codes when handling food and other consumables.
  • Keeps an accurate count of concession stand inventory
  • Balance monies for Aquatic Center programs using various crosscheck procedures.
  • Attends department and/or in-service meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.

 

Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned by the Activities Coordinator for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

 

 

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment; administer first aid and CPR; supervision; effective listening; leadership; instructional techniques; monitoring activities; training; and customer service .

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: age appropriate activities/behaviors; community resources; English grammar/punctuation/ spelling/vocabulary; and office equipment/software.

 

ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; collate data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: reliability; working flexible hours; adaptability/flexibility; and communication with persons of diverse backgrounds/knowledge/skills.

 

 

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a small work unit; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to significantly impact the organization’s services.

 

 

Working Environment

 

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 45% walking, and 45% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.
