PURPOSE STATEMENT

The job of Social Worker/Mental Health Therapist was established for the purpose/s of providing consultation, classroom assistance and training to school personnel; participating in the planning and implementation services for general education and special education students. In addition, the Social Worker/Mental Health Therapist will provide information on programs/services available to students and families as well as school and/or district activities and procedures; referring families to other agencies; and fostering an ongoing partnership between the home and school.

 

This position reports to Director of Student Support.

Knowledge-Based Competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: age appropriate activities/behaviors; codes/laws/rules/regulations/policies; community resources; DSM-V diagnoses and psychiatric disorders; crisis intervention techniques; and treatment modalities and assessment.

 

Ability-Based Competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: effectively communicate with persons of diverse backgrounds/knowledge/skills; confidentiality; decision making; flexibility; and reliability.
