Maintenance & Operations Summer Labor (Hourly Summer Position) - multiple positions

Location: Maintenance and Operations

Starting Salary:  $15/hr

 

 

Purpose Statement

The job of Summer Maintenance Worker is done for the purpose/s of provide a variety of minor maintenance, facility cleaning, and painting activities to maintain the function, safety, and aesthetics of facilities. The role primarily focuses on summer maintenance tasks and cleaning tasks.

 

This Job reports to Assigned Supervisor

 

Essential Functions

 

• Assists maintenance workers with projects and day-to-day operations as assigned (e.g. transporting and/or securing materials, completing specific tasks in areas of painting, carpentry, HVAC, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects in a safe, efficient manner.
• Cleans a wide variety of facilities and/or grounds areas as assigned for the purpose of preventing damage and/or limiting liability exposure.
• Installs system component parts, classroom and office equipment and facility components for the purpose of assisting in site repairs and improvements while area are not being used for education.
• Maintains a variety of grounds, playground, and athletic areas as assigned (e.g. mowing, trimming, picking up trash, planting, weeding, etc.) for the purpose of assisting in improving the safety, functionality, and athletics of outdoor areas.
• Participates in meetings, and trainings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
• Performs a variety of routine maintenance activities (e.g. replacing air filters, cleaning spraying equipment, light fixtures, outlets, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects within established time frames.
• Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
• Transports a variety of tools, equipment and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.

Other Functions

• Performs other related duties for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

 

SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment, power, and hand tools; adhering to safety practices; and handling hazardous materials.

 

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: standard methods, materials and tools used in general maintenance and cleaning.

 

ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize job-related equipment. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; developing effective working relationships; displaying mechanical aptitude; and working under time constraints.
